Firefighters worked several hours to battle flames for a Mt. Airy house fire

MT. AIRY, Md. — Fire crews battled heavy flames early Tuesday morning in Mt. Airy.

Firefighter from the Sykesville, Winfield and Mt. Airy Fire Departments responded to the scene of a working house fire in the 2300 Block of Gillis Road. When crews arrived, they found a fire on the second floor and through the roof.

Officials said firefighters worked for several hours to knockout the flames.

There were no reported injures and fire officials did not say what caused the fire.
