BALTIMORE COUNTY — Losing weight is no easy task but Thursday night, some of GBMC’s most successful weight loss patients strutted their stuff on the runway!

“I had a lot of medical issues so all of those are gone. I’m not on any medication and it just made me feel good about myself,” said weight loss patient, Yolanda Wright.

Wright is just one of 80 people honored as part of GBMC’s Comprehensive Cbesity Management Program or COMP.

“These patients they're down on their luck and they feel ashamed and through our help and nutritional efforts and exercise we are able to transform them,” said GBMC bariatric surgeon, Elizabeth Dovek.

“Even the small things like sitting on a chair to make sure it's not going to fall, or if you're going to brush against something in a store and break it. just little things that a lot of people don't think about,” Wright told WMAR 2 News.

More than 1000 people cheered on family and friends, as former and current patients celebrated victories, that literally changed lives and people.

“It was amazing because we had a good support network here that we brought but everyone was just so supportive,” said weight loss patient, Jill Rosenthal.

A walk down a runway may not seem like a lot, but for Amy Himelfarb and Jill Rosenthal, it's a culmination of hard work and dedication.

“I feel happier, healthier I’m able to move much better than I was,” said Rosenthal.

Himelfarb added, “Life is amazing I was a sedentary couch potato that really had a lot of issues high blood pressure I needed new knees I didn't move.”

Now, she floats on the runway.

“With this I’m active and healthy and living life.

And that's what the COMP program is all about! .

Patients are able to lose weight and keep it off with a combination of healthy eating, nutrition consultation and exercise.
