BALTIMORE — BARCS is asking for donations to help a rescue named Nugget.

The puppy was found on the street by a person on their way to a corner store. He was barely responsive, weak, starving and cold. In addition to being emancipated, the puppy is also hypothermic and anemic.

Nugget is currently hospitalized at one of BARCS partner veterinary clinics and will need several days of intensive care.

Vets believe he is about 8-weeks old and he was taken from or lost his mother too young and did not get the supplemental nutrition or care.

The shelter is asking for donations to help Nugget and other animals in need through their annual BARCStoberfest campaign.

Every year, the money raised at BARCStoberfest serves as a direct lifeline to the animals in the shelter. This year’s event is virtual, and the majority of their activities were canceled due to the pandemic and BARCS' fundraising goal was cut short.

Bill Miller and Miller Value Partners will match up to $25,000 for every donation to BARCStoberfest. Donations can be made through Oct. 25 at http://www.barcstoberfest.org/
