Online retailer Zappos has given its employees a paid day off for Leap Day, and wants to see other companies do the same.
Zappos has launched an online petition on Change.org to get Leap Day declared a national holiday. The goal is to get at least 100,000 signatures, according to a news release.
For the first time ever, the Zappos call center will be closed through midnight Feb. 29 (Pacific time). The company says it wants its employees to #TaketheLeap by using the extra 24 hours to do something they've always wanted to do.
Two Zappos employees are even getting married Feb. 29, with CEO Tony Hsieh officiating.
