Rear-facing car seats keep children safe in rear impact crashes

Children sitting in a rear-facing car seat are safe when the driver is rear-ended.

Researchers with SAE International say these car seats are a safe choice no matter where the impact comes from.

The study says these seats absorbed crash forces because it supports the child's head, neck and spine.

More than 25% of accidents are rear impact crashes.
