Hyatt Hotels Corp. says it recently found malicious software on the computer system that processes customer payments, raising the possibility that hackers may have obtained credit card numbers or other sensitive information.
The resort chain says it has hired outside security experts to help investigate the incident, which affected hotels that Hyatt manages itself. The company provided no details and did not say whether any information was stolen. But it's advising customers who have stayed at any Hyatt locations to review their payment card statements.
Hyatt also said it has taken steps to increase security on its computer systems. The Chicago-based company's holdings include 627 properties in 52 countries.
