Sometimes donations don't end up where they're supposed to.
The Maryland Secretary of State's Office is releasing some red flags to look for when making a donation.
One of the warning signs is when the charity doesn't send any literature or financial information about their organization.
Another warning sign is if an invoice or statement for a payment appears on a donation that was never pledged.
Also, a logo that resembles a similar charity with a similar purpose is a cause of concern.
Charities that solicit donations of $25,000 or more must register with the state.
The Secretary of State's website has a list of registered charities.
