The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says new technology in cars is keeping people safe.

Researchers found rearview cameras, rear auto brake and parking sensors can reduce backup crashes by 78%.

They went on to say the rear auto brake is the most effective option.

Rearview cameras will be mandatory for all cars and most trucks built in May of 2018 or later to further prevent collisions.
