BALTIMORE — Monday morning, the Baltimore City Veterans Commission hosted its annual Veterans Day ceremony at city hall.
This year, the theme was "Freedom ain't Free"
"I cannot imagine a better city in the world to be in during veterans day than Baltimore. A proud city that was the frontline of the battle that made out country the land of the free and the home of the brave."
Two-tour Vietnam veteran JD Howard was awarded the General Linda Singh "Preserve, Protect and Defend Award" for his work documenting the liberation struggle in South Africa on Monday.
Senator Chris Van Hollen was also honored with the Lieutenant General James Fredech "More Perfect Union" award.
