Alexa Liacko

National Correspondent

I am a correspondent with the Scripps National Team based in Denver. I currently work on our weekly political show, The Race. Through this show, I’ve been able to live a lifelong dream of traveling the country, telling stories and talking about political issues impacting families every day.

I joined the team in the midst of the pandemic after working in Atlanta, Georgia as a multimedia journalist and anchor. Prior to that, I was a multimedia journalist at the Scripps’ ABC affiliate in Tucson, Arizona, KGUN9 on Your Side, often reporting on issues at the border.

I graduated from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and stayed on to complete my Master’s Degree in Communication Management.

In my time at USC, I was the managing editor of the Annenberg Media Center, helping direct the university’s newsroom and its coverage across Los Angeles.

I am passionate about storytelling and helping those without a voice find a platform to share their stories.

Visual storytelling is very important to me, and I am a total drone nerd. I’m an FAA-certified drone pilot and enjoy finding new and creative ways to use drones to illustrate a story.

I am a Southern California native, and when I’m not reporting, you’ll find me cooking a new recipe, hiking outdoors in the beautiful Colorado mountains or taking a trip to the beach to visit family.
