The Orionid meteor shower is happening this weekend and the best time to see the show will be after 1:30 am Friday - Sunday night. By this time, the Moon will have set bringing darker skies to enjoy the show. Many of the meteors will appear to come from the Orion constellation - but space experts advise us to look away from Orion towards the south.

Weekend Weather Forecast

The best weather in the country is right here in Maryland as high pressure keeps our skies clear and our weather calm. This will provide great viewing conditions for the meteor shower each night during its peak. (October 20 - 22nd). Be sure to pack the jacket as the clear skies and light winds will make it chilly with overnight lows in the 50s.

What's so Special About the Orionid Meteor Shower?

What makes the Orionid Meteor Shower so special is where they originate from. They're actually debris from the famous Halley's Comet.
