Students enjoy art education during Spring Break

Timonium, Md - Students at Abrakadoodle Art Studio for kids in Timonium may be on Spring Break, but they are still hard at work on some dazzling drawings.

"It's fun because we can come here and draw and do what we want with our drawings," said 6-year-old Amelia Carmel.

It's all part of Spring Break Mini Camps.  This exciting camp is filled with character from Sponge Bob to Harry Potter.

Students can experiment with paint, clay and sculpture.  Studies show children in Art Programs learn creativity, problem solving, craftsmanship and self confidence.

"They get to paint based on their artistic creativity. I think it's great for them to express themselves through art," said Wendy Kessler, mother of an art student.

The three hour camp offers art education classes.  Everything in the studio is for little people from the aprons to the crayons and artwork.

Art allows children to think outside the box and express themselves.

"Art helps children to focus. It helps them to make decisions. We want them to be pleased with what they can create," said Pat Lakatta, Executive Director with Abrakadoodle Art Studio for Kids.

Art Education is not only for the studio.  Organizers also provide art teachers in 10 area schools serving 1,400 children.

"I have such a good time getting students to think creatively.  I think it's essential because they don't get a lot of opportunity to do that," said Mary Kate Newcomb, Art Instructor.

These days some schools are cutting art classes because of budget cuts, which makes Abrakadoodle so important.

Abrakadoodle Art Education is devoted to inspiring the imaginations of its students and building lifelong skills.

"I like drawing. I like anything and everything that involves art and painting," said Alex Damareck, art student.

On Friday Abrakadoodle will host four Maryland Artists who will unveil their new gallery exhibit "Tails of Fur and Fancy."  There will be a Festive Open House for children and their families on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.

Abrakadoodle Art Studio for Kids is located at 9606 Deereco Road in Timonium.

Abrakadoodle is about to launch an upcoming art program at Ridge Ruxton Elementary School.
