8 men arrested in prostitution ring

Howard County Police say they have arrested eight men in relation to a prostitution ring after a sting on Monday.

According to a release, the arrest took place at a hotel in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel. Officers had placed fake ads on the website, “Backpage”, known to be used for prostitution. When men called the number listed, undercover female officers answered and provided a meeting location upon the men’s request. When the suspects arrived and offered money for sex, they were charged with solicitation of prostitution and disorderly conduct.

Police listed the following men who were arrested: 33-year-old Emerson Arnez of Gaithersburg, 37-year-old Marcus Stephen Davis of Fort Washington, 38-year-old Charnell Lineal Johnson of Westminster, 26-year-old Houde Li of Halethorpe, 31-year-old Bobby Matthew of Philadelphia, Pa., 43-year-old Cleavon Lopez of Sykesville, 31-year-old Donique Olando Thompson of Severn, and 41-year-old Scott Edward Waters of Manchester.

The Howard County Police Department issued the following warning and reminder for suspects and victims of prostitution and human trafficking:

“If you commit these crimes, you WILL be arrested, prosecuted and your personal information released to the media.
