Just after 11 o’clock Friday morning, police tied up crime tape around the intersection of Mosher and West Madison in Marble Hill, protecting the city’s 26th murder scene in just 20 days.
On the other side of the plastic tape, but visible to onlookers was a pile of bloody clothes where police say a 34-year-old Jamar Hinton was shot dead.
"This has become a hot area in that last couple of years,” said President of the Marble Hill Community Association Atiba Nkrumah, “Yeah, there has been an increase of activity in this area."
This area is called Historic Marble Hill but it could be Broadway East or Allendale; Pigtown or Sandtown.
April has been a particularly violent month in many areas of the city.
Homicides are happening two at a time, victims are grandmothers sitting out on porches and killings are committed while an officer is literally around the corner like on Regester in East Baltimore yesterday.
Baltimore Police shared video today of a warrant sweep they conducted this week in which they say they served 20 warrants including on a murder suspect.
Other arrests have come this week as well.
Aaron Ausby was arrested yesterday for a murder on April 2nd in Woodbrook.
Police also took in 17-year-old Eric Gilyard for yesterday's murder of 30-year-old Walter Baynes.
But the violence keeps coming and more lives are being extinguished.
Friday’s victim was killed with what neighbors tell us sounded like just one shot.
Politicians who represent these areas tell us, it all has to change soon.
"Certainly, we've had a spike recently, this month and that is a problem and I know the police department is working to re-tool and figure that out, redeploy more strategically,” Baltimore City Councilman Eric Costello said, “We got to continue to be smarter."
