GBMC - Back to School Stress

Back to school can be a trying time for children. Dr. Theresa Nguyen, Assistant Chair of Pediatrics at GBMC offers tips for a successful transition back to the classroom.

Dr. Nguyen says a stable sleeping routine is the most important tool for a child - she recommends 9-11 hours per night for elementary aged children.

Another helpful tip is making a family plan, including meetings, extracurricular activities, sports, and mealtimes so the family can easily prepare for the week ahead.

Lastly, make learning fun by incorporating math and science while cooking together, or have a conversation with your child over arts and crafts.
